A New Gifted Start

My DS wedding last month was a distraction, a nice distraction I should add, to my blogging.  As a result I failed to post a July Gifted Gorgeousness update.

Here is what I should have posted…

2015 Gifted Gorgeousness ~ July 15
Designer: The Sampler Company
Design: Grace and Virtue
Fabric: 32ct linen over 2
Floss: DMC

I even managed to do the finishing on this but have yet to snap a picture. I'll save that for my next post.

On to my next 2015 Gifted Gorgeousness start…

Designer: Carriage House Samplings
Fabric: 40ct over two
Floss: DMC

This beauty falls under the category of:
  • Anything which is intended as a gift or prize for another person
Yes, I am stitching this for a special someone and hope to finish it before Christmas.

My DH made a number of these birdhouses and placed them in our yard…

The vintage outdoor faucet handles make perfect decorative flowers! We scouted these out last year when we went to the world longest yard sale: 127 yard sale. That was quite an experience!

The birdhouse roof is hinged so we can open it up and check on the occupants. Each spring/summer we get to watch the tiny birds grow from this…

to this…

The second birdhouse had just two little birds…

Two other birdhouses became home to tiny little field mice…Ewwww! Not willing to snap pictures of that though.

Pop on over to Victorian Motto Samplers and sign up for her floss giveaway. The fall colors are beautiful!

Thanks for stopping by…
Until next time…

Oh what a perfect sampler.
How in the world did field mice get up there?

Your sampler is terrific! Love, the birdhouses, the hot/cold faucets do look like flowers.Obviously the birds like them too!

What a beautiful sampler you completed! Love it! Can't wait to see how you finished it! I wish my carpenter husband would be interested in small projects like those birdhouses... He built homes and such... doesn't really like doing small stuff... darn it! The faucets are perfect in the front of the birdhouse!! What fun to watch the fledglings... Thanks for sharing!

Your July finish is gorgeous, Marie, and I love what you are just starting, too. Looks like a lot of solid stitching in that one! I just love stitching on 40 ct--find I can hardly stand to use more than one thread anymore...

What cute bird houses--especially like the faucet accents :)

Hope you are finding more stitching time now that all the wedding festivities are over. Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for taking part in GG this month, sorry you missed a month but don't worry, there's no forfeit to pay!

Beautiful sampler and a lovely new start too.

Both your projects for the Gifted Gorgeousness SAL are so beautiful. I love all the designs by Brenda Keyes and Kathy Barrick and have several in my stash too but not these two.

These birdhouses seem to be good for the birds. Nearly every year we have a bird nest on one of the beams under the roof, and nearly every year the magpies eat the nestlings. A sad story but we can't do anything against them. Maybe a birdhouse would be a solution.
