Stitching on VoHRH SAL and Flannel Quilt

I recently attended CATS (Consumer Arts and Teaching Show) in Hershey, PA and had a great time. I need to take a picture of the many items that I purchased! I had the opportunity to speak with a vendor at the show who confirmed that CATS will no longer be held at the Hershey, PA location. Apparently the show sponsorship has dwindled down to a mere 2, leaving them unable to support the show... such a shame.

It looks like we have a new member to our "stress free" VoHRH SAL group: Wanda. Welcome to the groups Wanda, I have added you to my SAL sidebar.

I was able to complete the VoHRH block #1 by the Oct 1st date, and was able to start on block #2. I hope that I will be able to complete the second block by Nov 1st~My sewing machine has taken me away from cross stitch lately. I have been working on a flannel quilt as well as some holiday card holders. I like the way the card holder is turning out and will post a picture of it later.

Village of Hawk Run Hollow - Block #1

Village of Hawk Run Hollow - Block #2

Deadline to complete: November 1

When I am in Vermont I work on the flannel quilt pictured below. A few years ago I made a quilt like this for my son, using homespun cotton fabrics, to take to college. I liked the quick and easy pattern so I decided to make a flannel one for our Vermont home. I am making it a king size because winters are cold in VT and I must stay very warm! Hopefully I will complete it soon and can hand it off to the machine quilting service.

In progress Flannel Quilt

What cross stitching I am working on is for exchanges so I do not have any other pictures to share. I did mail off my Halloween Exchange and will post a picture once I know that it has been received. For now I will leave you with a photo of the wall quilt that I made for our Vermont home. This one hangs in our bedroom.

I have visited a few new wonderful blogs (thanks Vonna for directing me there :-D)~they have been added to my sidebar. A special thank you to Wanda for sending me this great link for Biscornu finishing. ~I still have a phobia about giving this a try!

For all those that stop by...thanks! and for those that take the time to comment...thanks so much! :-)

Until next time...

All are works of art. Great job. I've used the biscornu tutorial for my first one. It's very complete and easy to follow.

I absolutely LOVE the quilted wall hanging! Such beautiful simplicity in the design. Every once in a while I see a quilt with the potential to coax me into becoming a quilter. Your flannel quilt is exactly that type of project! I may need to make one of those . . .

Your Village is looking good. I think you are actually further than I am on block 2.

Love that flannel quilt. What pattern is that? It looks like something that I could do.

Had heard through The Silver Needle that CATS was to be no more in Hershey. Actually, I guess it was a miracle that there was even one this year. When it started there were 3-4 a year. Would love to see some of your purchases. I miss going to those types of festivals. Used to go all the time.

Oh my heavens, what gorgeous projects! Your quilts are stunning - I can see why you haven't spent all your free time cross stitching. ;) Your VOHRH progress so far is beautiful!

Your progress on the village looks great. I love the wall quilt. It is absolutely beautiful. I want to get back into my quilting, but with all of my other projects and work, I just don't seem to have the time.

I'm feeling so guilty, I haven't even touched block 2 yet this month. Hopefully this weekend! I've been trying to get some exchange stitching done well before the deadlines, and I'm mailing out 2 items today.

Your quilts look gorgeous!

Yay quilting pictures from Marie! I feel lucky LOL!

I love the flannel quilt you are doing, I bet it is heavy. I love flannel, and you know, I’ve never made a flannel quilt before, only used it as backing, and that is my fave thing to use for backing. It looks beautiful, and it is HUGE! My gosh, it’ll keep everyone warm :D

Your wall quilt is really cute, I like it a lot. Wall quilts are fun to make huh? I have yet to try appliqué though. Is the girl on it appliqué?

Your VOHRH looks great too :) Busy busy! Biscornus aren’t too bad, I’ve made one, and have one waiting to be finished. Just gotta find the time.

Marie look at that wonderful quilt you have made, and you are fearful of a little biscornu?? Rubbish :) Your work is really beautiful! I like the one-block-one-month approach to VOHRH - and your second block is coming along really well!

Your blocks for the Village are looking good! And oh Marie, those quilts are gorgeous! I think it's so amazing that people can do such quilts, I've always admired these. It requires so much patience and you have to be in good terms with your sewing maching :) WOW!
